Amateur Optometry

"Why are you reading my necklace are you worried about your eyes I think they look just fine."

Hehe. The Eye Test Necklace ($25) by Tilly Bloom is quirky, clever, and completely unique. Made of plastic, the piece is super-lightweight. The chain comes in an 18" length, but feel free to request any chain length between 14" and 20". Enjoy the gorgeous packaging, which is completely gift-worthy. Or request special gift wrap using an upgrade in the shop. And check out the beautiful black and white shop - a "palace of the perfectly peculiar" - for some other wonderful surreal-inspired bling. I love it all!

Bling!

Color and Fun

At times, though my wardrobe is mostly in neutrals, I want some color in my life. And I firmly believe that's what accessories are for - like this Linen Choker ($140) by kjoo. The tightly woven ring fits close to the collar and features eight colorful bulbs in a range of hues. The base is crocheted linen while the bulbs are felted wool. It fastens with an adorable pale pink bulb button to match. And this piece looks equally awesome worn doubled around your wrist as a bracelet. (The matching ring is currently on sale for just $45!!) And shipping is free!

Love,
Bling!
PS - The shop is full of great fabric jewelry in all sorts of beautiful colors...

Breakable

Doesn't the La-Rochelle Porcelain Purple Ring ($46) by MaaP Studio look so delicate it would break with your touch? But the way the clay ring is fired makes it incredibly durable. This hand-crafted piece comes gift wrapped for a special arrival. I love all the matching pieces you can get in the store! Choose a pink, turquoise, or white ring instead. Or go for a beautiful matching purple necklace. Or how about the lovely white earrings that go perfectly? Delightful!

Love,
Bling!
PS - In light of my absence yesterday (A Very Merry Unbirthday to me!!), I've written two posts today. So be sure to scroll down for a rather daring piece of bling I know you'll love...

Go Big or Go Home

There's something about this Feather Epaulet ($33) by Hoda Designs. The mix of chain and feather is gorgeousimous! This designer-looking piece would cost around $200 at a big-name shop. But even with shipping, this beautiful piece is less than $40. There are also several other chain-and-shoulder styles in the store, so look around if you're intrigued but not particularly fond of this one. It's still my favorite though.

Love,
Bling!
PS - I took a day off yesterday to celebrate my 23 years of living! (Ack! It can't be 23 yet.... no no no!! Let me go back in time!) So today I will make up for it with two posts, but of which are excellent - as usual. xx

Balance Act

I think this series of necklaces is just the most darling I've seen in a while! With all manner of miniature figures balancing on "tightrope" necklace chains, you just can't help but find one you love. This one might be my favorite. The Tightrope Walk Yoga Necklace ($75) by Klimbim Berlin shows off the headstand of a teeny woman. Delightful! Everything except the figure is made in sterling silver for the highest quality. Take a look through the whole shop for lots of other variations on the theme. Gorgeous.

Sort Of Cheating....

Well, I know I said no more Christmas stuff. And I know the picture above clearly says "joy", which is a word Christmas has most certainly claimed. BUT (big "but")... I think joy is something we should be reminded of year-round. And with the absence of any other Christmas paraphernalia/flotsam/jetsam, I think this MUSE Bracelet ($20) by Metalicious is quite the perfect reminder.

There are quite a few wonderful little touches on this piece. The matte finish is a good place to start because it lets the word be the star. I also lurve that the word "joy" is hand-stamped on two sides of the rectangular tube. I like that it's on more than one because it makes it special, but I also like that it's only on two because sometimes the word is a secret that only you know. I love that there's a matching ring and a whole collection of similarly-inspired pieces. And I adore the $5 worldwide shipping price! Oh, and the whole fantastic shop!

Love,
Bling!
PS - A Merry Christmas to you, even those of you who don't celebrate. Enjoy the spirit of the season no matter what you believe. And spend the free time, however brief, with those you care about most.

Thursday

Christmas Eve Eve

As my countdown to Christmas continued, I would like to announce success on all fronts Christmas-related! Everything wrapped and ready to go. That's a 10-4, sir. Over and out. To send me home (6 hour drive....) on my merry way, I would love a little something to pin back my hair in the car... and make me super-stylish in the process. Oh! And give me a dose of holiday spirit without the tacky sweater.

Enter: the Silver Flower Bobby Pin ($15) and the Gold Blossom Hair Pins ($14) by Aya Wedding. Hand-sewn, the flowers are delicate and floaty. Both arrive gift-wrapped to make you feel special when you open them and shipping is just $5 worldwide, less if you buy two items.

Love,
Bling!
PS - Remember to relax right about now. Think about the reason you celebrate this holiday (or the reason you don't!) and allow yourself to slow down and focus on the important things in life. Take stock of what truly matters to you and you will feel happier come Christmas morning.

Wednesday

Christmas Countdown!

Well, my charming readers. It seems Christmas is upon us. I have two small gifts left to purchase, but I know exactly where to get them and exactly what I'm getting. So tomorrow it's last minute present grabbing and a wrapping frenzy! I'll be leaving for home the next day and then it will be Christmas. Yes, that fast! There's not much point to me offering up gorgeous holiday bling anymore since you wouldn't be able to wear it for the holidays. However, I can still show you some lovely red and green pieces to fit in with the general "vibe".

The In Case Of Emergency - Break Glass necklace ($650) by Pink Crow Studio is delightfully unique. There's the vaguely Art Deco style, the accordian-folded bill, and the fantastic green detailing framing the dollar that is so reminiscent of the design on the currency. Spiffy! Shipping is free. Yes, FREE!! Weeee!!

The World 'Round My Finger

galaxy geode ring

"I've got the world on a string, sitting on a rainbow. Got that string tied 'round my little finger."

The Galaxy Geode Ring ($480) by Sarah Lewis Jewelry is a stunning piece of bling-fection. That's 'jewelry perfection' for you slow-pokes... Impeccably handcrafted in fine materials including borosilicate glass, this sparkly ring reminds me of traveling the world - or seeing it from outer space! I guarantee* you'll get comments on this spectacular piece.

Love,
Bling!

PS - *I can in no way guarantee the spectacularishness of the aforementioned bling. Should the ring not measure up to your high class standards, I can only offer you virtual cookies and imaginary gold stars. But I'm prepared to offer lots of both.

Friday

Two Turtle Doves

The Twelve Days of Christmas are dwindling (well, technically those are the twelve days after Christmas.... but I'm using it as a countdown to the big day). To celebrate the onset of Christmas shopping panic, I found this lovely Kissing Bird Ring ($98) by Odette New York while perusing Etsy's new "Taste Test" (check it out, it's pretty neat and fairly accurate). Made of gold vermeil, this ring is initially hand-carved into wax to feature two kissing birds on a branch ring band, then cast in sterling silver and plated with a good layer of 14k gold. Get it in your size and receive it in a pretty gift-ready package! And check out all of the gorgeous site for more fantastic pieces in fine metals.

Wednesday

Delicate Metal

Wow. Take a closer look. That's not lace painted silver. Promise. This is a Scalloped Lace Silver Cuff Bracelet ($1500) by White Fly that's made by casting a piece of vintage lace in sterling silver and then gently molding it around itself to form a cuff. Best part? It's flexible enough that you can bend it slightly to fit your wrist size. Also get it in 14k gold ($6000) or gold vermeil ($1700). But be prepared for a hefty shipping fee, my blinglings.

Forget Me Knot

I was so excited to find this darling knotted ring on Etsy. The Ribbons - Don't Forget ring by Sparklethots (Gold $35, Silver $27, and Rose Gold $40) is a great gift for the special female someone in your life to know you'll never forget them. Or to remind them never to forget you! Each ring is individually hand-wrapped from the highest-quality wire and gently hammered for texture and to catch the light. It is made to your ring size exactly. The artist also makes a lovely necklace version if you'd like a set.

Who Needs a Watch?

Have I got a solution for you*! The Sundial Ring Pendant ($35) at Think Geek tells the time "without electricity, gears, or other technology". Because technology is *so* overrated. Get back to basics and replace that clunky timepiece on your wrist. The piece is pewter and can be strung on the included black satin cord or placed on any chain you like. You could even put it on a keyring. With a sundial on hand, you'll be able to answer "got the time?" with a little flair. Hey, you can't trust technology anyway!

Love,
Bling!

*I am not responsible for the accuracy or reliability of the solution.

Friday

Diamonds on the Cheap

Well originally I ran across these itty bitty Cut Out Diamond Studs ($80) by In God We Trust on Refinery 29. There was something about them that I liked, but a lot about them that was uber-boring. Enter, Etsy. Yes, I have a love affair with the darling purveyor of handmade and vintage everything. But honestly, when I see something I like but it costs an arm and a leg or it's just not quite perfect, I always head to Etsy.

That is the gorgeousness I found with a swift (but well-thought-out) go at the search bar.

Ishy Jewellery makes delightful bling, like the Sterling Silver Diamond Bling Stud Earrings ($28) that looks like a lofty purchase, but only costs as much as a cute top. Every piece is handmade when they get the order so you could conceivably ask for a special little touch to make a piece your own. They feature mostly fine silver in a variety of nature-inspired themes. Some of my favorites are the trophy buck necklace, the fleur de lis earrings, and the damask mitten studs.

Bling with a Bow

These little leather darlings are absolutely perfect for the holidays (and for your birthday!). I love the way  they are carefully folded into perfect little bows. The Leather Bow Earrings ($35) by By Jennie are mounted on silver posts and come in large (shown) and small. They are absolutely precious and the leather is so soft! The store also offers up cute little ribbon bows and other adorable leather pieces in a variety of colors, all handmade in Canada by Jennie herself.
Love,
Bling!
PS. Just got word, Jennie is currently closed and won't be taking any new orders for a few days. But if you like what you see, you should definitely check out the shop and click the big blue button to be notified by email when she returns again!

Wednesday

Tied With A Golden Bow

I love this Bow Tie Necklace in Mesh Gold ($20) by It's A Stitch. Fantastic that it's upcycled from a vintage bow tie! And it comes gift-wrapped for free in case you'd like to give it to a friend for the holidays. Extra plus? Free worldwide shipping! Now there's a happy holiday...

Love,
Bling!

PS - Do you like ribbons or bows better for your holiday packages?

Tuesday

Comic Bling

Let's take a break from the Christmas festivities... But wow, do I have an awesome collection to show you! Noir Jewelry has come out with a DC Comics collection (it's way better than their Disney collection and don't even bother with the Sex and the City necklaces). The Gotham City Ring ($225) I've shown above is probably the best wow-factor in the collection. Most everything is rather glitzy, with lots of small cubic zirconia stones covering the surfaces. However, there's something to be said for the simultaneous cohesiveness and variety within the collection. Overall, it's just gorgeous.

I wish there were one page with all the DC Comics bling together, but alas, the site navigation is a bit silly. To get to what you want, you'll have to click one of the tabs for the type of jewelry (rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings) and then you have the option to view everything (automatic) or you can click the "Sort By:" drop-down menu to pick the collection. Being the newest collection, DC Comics is at the bottom. Yes, it's a pain. But it's oh-so worth it!

Love,
Bling!
PS - I also get a kick out of a lot of other stuff at Noir, so click around.

Monday

Pretty in Plaid

Continuing in the Christmas excitement (but I promise it won't be all 19 days left), this lovely plaid number would be perfect over the new LBD I just bought. You can get the Plaid Ribbon and Bow Necklace ($17) by London Leaf at an adjustable length. You can cut the super-long ribbon ends (necklace totals 35 inches!) or tie them in a huge bow. Shipping within the US is free! Sweet...

Friday

Nativity Ring

Now that's a ring! This bit of bling is a handmade depiction of the three wise men on their way to the manger. The Three Wise Men Ring ($40) by Olympia is a size 7, but you can ask the artist for a different size and it's likely they'll make it for you. Special things about this ring is that each wise man has a different silhouette and carries a different gift, the band is gold-filled, and the characters are fine silver. Also, shipping is under $5 everywhere! Suh-weet!

Love,
Bling!
PS - we love the Reindeer Brooch ($45), the Snowflake Cut Out Necklace ($55), and the Angel Wings Earrings ($50)! Really, the whole shop is quite lovely...

Thursday

Antique Lace

The Coraline Earrings ($23) by Branch Bound are huge. No, really. H-u-g-e. See the pic at the end of the post! But with the slightly metallic silvertone, the Venise lace is in keeping with the holiday spirit! Or better yet, contact the artist (with the link on the item page) for a custom dye job and get these beauties in any color you like. Enjoy shipping for under $5 to any country! And if you purchase now, you're sure to get them by Christmas. Get it gift-wrapped if you like and have it sent straight to your gift recipient too! Just make note of this in the Notes To Seller box at checkout, or click the "convo" link before purchase to find out more about these options.

Bling!

Wednesday

Jingle Jangle

And these darling earrings remind me of little bells! Get a pair of Sterling Silver Entangled Wire Ball Stud Earrings ($48) by Jewelry by Tomomi and don't forget the matching necklace! When you hear that bell outside the store, drop a few coins in. Every little bit counts. Enjoy free shipping to the United States on these sparkly earrings, too.
