Year-Round Christmas Bling

Equal parts Holiday Festive and Scotland Chic, the Schoolgirl Vintage Quilt Necklace ($28) by That Old Blue House is the perfect piece if you don't want to buy something you can only wear in December, but are still wanting to embrace the holidays with your bling! It doesn't scream "CHRISTMAS!!", but it has a color palette Santa would approve of.

Love,
Bling!

Deck The Halls

Well I'm out of town for a few days, but am so giddy about decorating my first apartment for the holidays that I might burst! So I'm getting out my Christmas excitement with some jolly bling. This Crimson Mollie Pearls and Ribbon Bracelet ($14.50) by Twilly Pop is reminiscent of some of the ornaments I'll be putting on my tree this coming weekend (crossing my fingers I'll be able to get a small tree then and begin my decoration frenzy!). This bracelet is adjustable in size, too! Just tie the ribbons in a bow as tight or loose as you like.

Love,
Bling!
PS - This is available in several different colors in the store in bracelet and necklace forms, as well as in multiple strands or tiers!

The Holidays Are Here!

Yay!! I can finally write about the onslaught of lovely holiday-themed bling I've been finding while traipsing around the 'net. To be fair, since I celebrate Christmas and might get a bit biased toward that holiday, I'm going to start off The Season with a Hannukah necklace. This Ceramic Lace Flowers Chain Menorah ($49) by Orly Design is dashing and functional! Check out the picture below of the piece all-lit-up! Wear it throughout the day and when it comes time to light the candles, set it on your table in a variety of pretty patterns. To wear it, since it has no clasp, simply tie a ribbon through the decorative ends. I love the larger, center candle well as a great focal point too! Oh, and use code BLACKFRIDAYSALE to get 15% this piece as well as everything in the whole shop!

Love,
Bling!
PS - my love affair with Julia Failey has not ended! She is having a great Black Friday sale for 48 hours. Catch the end of it by saving 15% with code THANKS15 and get free shipping and a free gift (gift only if you purchase $100 or more).

Thursday

Too Much... Everything!

It's 9pm and I'm only just walking in the door from a Thanksgiving meal that started at 2 o'clock! I feel completely stuffed and, even though I did the dishes, don't feel like I helped out quite enough. I spent the holiday with my boyfriend's family since my own have quite a busy weekend and I'll be headed down there next week anyway.

As usual, I ate way too much (dessert). So now I just want to relax and lay on the couch and let the food settle into my stomach. (Tomorrow will be a workout for sure!) And these Anis Handmade Earrings ($36) by LAccentNou really embrace the vibe I'm feeling right now.

Maybe tomorrow I work on losing the eighteen pounds I probably gained today and focusing on Christmas (I haven't even started making my gift list yet!). But for tonight, pretty blue earrings... and if you don't live in the US (and thus are Thanksgiving-free today) or you just aren't feeling the same tired/relaxing/lazy vibe that I am, you should still check out the LAccentNou shop for loads of other really unique pieces.

Love,
Bling!

PS - and don't forget, they offer 15% for new customers through the 29th with code "NEWCLIENT" entered at checkout!!

Blingin' Enamel-esque Pieces

So I know I gave you all necklaces and clouds yesterday... but I'm giving you more. Suck it up. And love it. Because these pieces are truly worth some attention and I can't possibly wait another moment to give them to you! Yes, that's my selfish whim getting in the way of your most joyousness (to see different types of bling each day, of course!).... sue me.

Back to the point! I had a point..... oh! there it is!

Above, the Mother Nature's Gold Necklace ($35) by Block Party Press is the most interesting honeycomb bling I've seen in a while. Very well-executed and delightfully wearable! Of course, everything is handmade with clay and paint and a variety of distressing techniques. Yes, this looks just like enamel (at least in the gorgeous photos!) but it's actually clay and paint and love and skill. Below, The Lost Mitten ($45) and Smitten Necklace ($30) are perfect for the wintry weather heading our ways and are sure to put you in the holiday mood if you haven't made it there yet.

That looks just like enamel! Goodness!

And there are the clouds... You can't fault me for loving little storm clouds, like Into Every Life Some Rain Must Fall Necklace ($55)! They're just so grey and adorable. And I adore the clever Cloud 9 Necklace ($45). It's sure to brighten your mood a little every time you look at it, after all you're wearing cloud 9!

Love,
Bling!
PS - While I happened to love the necklaces the most, Block Party Press has earrings, rings, hair accoutrements, buckles, pins and brooches, cuff links, tie tacks, and magnets! Oh my!

Darling Felt Bling

Having successfully borrowed a friend's Mac power cord until I can get to the store tomorrow, I'm wired again! Hallelujah! I also have a new appreciation for not having to use Windows or the typical PC hardware. Apple plug over, promise.

I found this adorable artisan on Etsy over the weekend and am stoked to show these pieces to you! This bling is sweet! And I don't just mean "suh-weet", I mean adorable, cute, whimsical, and darling... Above is the Love Cloud Necklace ($27) by Ordinary Mommy, whose work is anything but ordinary. This cute little storm cloud is completely hand-stitched and beautifully designed with quirky touches. I also fell for the glamorous felt gems below -  Hope Is Precious Gem Necklace ($20) and Amethyst Gem Tiny Charm Necklace ($12). Needless to say, this shop is full of darling little pieces. Look here for necklaces and hair accessories, mostly, in that iconic stitched-felt.

Monday

Brief Hiatus

Apologies, all! I will not be able to post a Bling of the Day tonight and perhaps for the next few nights. My lovely computer has a broken power cord! I've borrowed a computer for a few minutes to write this quick note and do a couple other important things. I'll be heading to my nearest Apple store as soon as I can get over there (it's 30 minutes away! gasp!). Promise.

Until then, please take a moment to write down a few things you're truly thankful for as we go into the season that reminds us most of them. Hang your list in a place you'll see it every morning and allow it to motivate you! And don't forget to add to your list!

Gothic-Punk for the Sophisticate?

This is what happens when Italian style meets up with rock n' roll glam. Giuseppe Zanotti is the mastermind behind this edgy, architectural bracelet (labeled IA0047 001). At a whopping $650, you'll need to save up for a statement-making, show-stopping, breath-taking piece like this... or any other bling from the current collection for that matter. This particular wrist-wrap is made from brass, black suede, and Swarovski crystals and claims to create a "gothic-punk" vibe that creates "an extremely sophisticated look".
*eyebrow raise*

Love,
Bling!
PS - I'm loving Wishpot, a universal wishlist that works like a registry - perfect for the holidays! And do sound off; is a gothic-punk vibe is extremely sophisticated? Is there such a thing as gothic-punk? Would you ever wear that style? Help me understand Zanotti's side with your perspective...

Wow. So apparently Kate Bosworth and Cher Coulter have been super-busy putting together this awesome site called JewelMint. It's, quite frankly, a jewel of the month club. Join up right now for some uber-fab bling, you can even connect with your facebook account instead of creating a new account on their site.

Wrap Around Ring

I love a pretty ring. I'm sure you all know that by now... gracious I've got a lot of rings! But this one would be the perfect next specimen for my collection. Funny thing is: I hardly ever wear jewelry of any sort. But I have an obsession still the same. And the Flor de Lotus ring ($120) by Masaoms is helping satiate the obsession for another day. Made in Barcelona, this Spanish ring is fine silver with a 24k gold accent and is inspired by Ancient Egypt as part of the Flor de Lotus (Lotus Flower in Spanish) Collection. Contact the artist before you purchase to arrange for the correct size to be made for you. Shipping is hefty, but well worth it! Check out all the other outstanding rings (and earrings, pendants, necklaces, bracelets, etc) in the shop, MSO Joies, as well.

Monday

I love this fabric necklace! It looks perfect with any solid color top and I can even see it working with a simple print (think horizontal stripes in a complementary tone). It makes a bold statement, but not in a snotty way. The main problem I have with most "statement necklaces" is that they make you seem like you're full of yourself. I mean, I am awesome! I know that. But I also know my shortcomings (stubborn, lazy, self conscious - to start off the long list) and I care about the wellbeing of those around me.

It's important that what I wear reflects that (minus the actual shortcomings, of course); and the same goes for what you wear. The Ceremony Necklace ($65) by Thief & Bandit fits the bill! It has quite the down-to-earth vibe, given the hand-printed fabric and gorgeous braiding. And I love the free shipping for the US and Canada!

Ooh La La!

Wrap me up. Hold me tight. Kiss me; squeeze me. Make an amazing night.

What a sexy little bracelet! The Corset Bangle ($277) by Akino Jewellry Design has a beautiful reticulated finish... what's that mean?! Well it basically means the sterling silver has incredible texture that looks as if it were pulled from nature. And the gorgeous suede lacing.... oh oh! I love it! Plus, it's British. Well... the artisan is British. I love England and the designer is straight from London! Go ahead, claim you bought this from a charming shop near Trafalgar Square.

Love,
Bling!
PS - get the matching ring at a fraction of the price!

Hip-Hop Anonymous

It's not so anonymous anymore! If you're like me and have very little to do with the hip-hop scene (what is up with those pants around your thighs?!) you may have a hard time adding a little "street cred" into your wardrobe. I mean, cardigans are great but they definitely don't help you fit in with the young masses. Well this little touch of graffiti doesn't mess with your normal style, but does add that bit of hippity-hop barber shop you were hoping for. The Initial Bobby Pin ($10) by Beebles puts us suburb dwellers right into the city! Well, sort of...

Musical Bling

Well, not exactly musical... But these beautiful earrings are made from guitar strings! Beautifully woven, the Golden Guitar String Weave Earrings ($25) by String Cycle are adorably upcycled and will look great even when you don't get the opportunity to explain them! Everything in the shop is made from old or new guitar strings, including some crazy decor and lovely barrettes. I know you'll love this extra touch of music in your life as much as I do!

Grab Your Coloring Book!

ROYGBIV.

These colorful little rings are actually crayons!! I love the chic, classic shape. But I love their playfulness even more! If you wear one of these Crayon Rings ($12) by Timothy Liles for FredFlare, you'll always be ready to write down that next great idea. Or at least give your phone number to that hot guy at the bar... And if you hurry, everything on the site (excluding sale items... *frown*) is 30% off with code "flare".

Love,
Bling!
PS - While you're perusing FredFlare, be sure to check out these quirky bows for your holiday gifts. With phrases like "I still have the receipt..." you'll be very clear about the intentions and thought behind your holiday gift-giving. I'm hoping they'll make ones that say "I gave this to everyone on my list." to let me off the hook this year!

Meandering Sparkly Bracelet With A Bite

Swiping in circles and twisting around her wrist
Ready and waiting to pounce
Teeth bare and sparkling

This Silver B10509AW Bracelet ($366) by Iosselliani is so sparkly and slithery! I love the way it meanders around until you get to the that gorgeous snake head. And with the pop of its red eyes, you're bound to draw lots of attention to this piece! Plus, the red eyes are so subtle, you can wear this bracelet with basically anything. It will definitely dress up a pair of jeans, but won't look too out of place if its the only bling you're wearing. And it looks fantastic with formal wear - and anything in between. Check out the whole shop for lots of other delights!

Sand Dreams

I have very fond memories of summer days at the beach as a child. I grew up on an island town and never realized how special it was to have that much access to the beach until college. Now that it's wintry weather over here, I've become rather nostalgic for those summery days in my bikini chasing the waves. When I ran across this beautiful ring, I was smitten.

The Sand Beige Spikes Ring ($105) by Jealousy Design is a delightful beach reference. The setting and band are completely handmade in sterling and fine silver and it will be made to fit your ring size (or to be adjustable if you prefer). Shipping is free if you don't want it tracked and only $7 if you do! Sweet deal! The store is full of similar beauties, like the Brown Smoky Mountain Ring and various men's items for you early holiday shoppers, so you really must check it out... Enjoy!

Love,
Bling!

PS - Do you have any beach memories?

Primary School

I love being reminded of childhood. Going from college life (basically four years without seeing children) to recently graduated with a fulltime job, I've been surrounded by people over the age of eighteen for years now. It starts to get a little depressing. This Primary Colors Ring ($42) by Sandijreed is so bright and happy and makes me think of elementary school art class! The entire ring is handmade and comes with free shipping and a free pair of matching earrings. I adore free!

Exploring the Cosmos

Well I was featured in a treasury. How exciting! What is a treasury, you may ask... Let me start at the beginning. I created a beautiful print from a copper plate I spent hours working on in the intaglio method using a variety of acid techniques (gibberish to most of you, I know). Anyway, it's all swirly and starlit and beautiful when the ink touches on the paper.

Then I heard about this contest NASA is having with Etsy. In commemoration (mourning!) of the Space Shuttle Program, NASA is partnering with Etsy to fly space-inspired art into space! I immediately thought of this print I made and hurried to snap some photos and list it quick as a cricket, despite my non-preparation in terms of selling. Anyway... I listed yesterday on the final day of contest entries and hear today that I was selected for a treasury (the theme is the contest). Treasury is Etsy's member-curated gallery. Each treasury is made by an Etsy member featuring pieces they've found on Etsy that they feel 'go together' in some manner and are worthy of our attention. I love treasuries because it makes it ten times easier to find gifts!

Point? Point?! You were hoping for a point?! Well, okay.... I'll be nice. The necklace above, Goodnight Moon ($165) by Just Us Punks was in the treasury (and thus the contest) as well and I fell in love immediately. Gorgeous! Oh and the rest of the shop? Outstanding....

Love,
Bling!

PS - this is a closeup of my print.
