Elegant Quirky Earrings

First off, we'd like to say that it's a beast getting this picture off the Neiman Marcus website. They clearly don't want to be promoted. I mean it's pretty obvious that someone can steal the design or take a screen shot and use it in their own work or some such. Making it so that you can't copy/paste the product photos does not curb any nefarious use, it just makes it difficult for people doing good things with the photos to accomplish these ends.
Rant over. We'd like to introduce you to a gorgeous pair of earrings you can wear with almost anything (we wouldn't recommend wearing them with bathing suits or gym clothes, but that's about it). The Rope Crystal Ball Earrings (on sale for $31) by Lee Angel are frankly - really pretty. All the materials are probably fairly cheap, but they look great. And the shape of the earwires echoes the curves of the spheres, as do the balled up back ends of the earwires. Very chic appearance, but they're also quirky because the bigger ball is made from thin rope. Grab up this pair for the perfect daily accessory or nighttime bling.
Love,
Bling!
PS - We'd like to inform all our readers of an exciting new "blog" Bling's owner writes for now. It's the Children's Arts and Crafts section of the Examiner online. Check it out for some great, and easy, DIY articles.

Happy Birthday Emma!!

My beautiful niece is turning 3 today. I bought her the most spectacular custom tutu ($25) for the dress up box "grandma" is giving her. You can find your own (both premade and custom) at Southern Girl Tutus for the little one in your life.

Knit Me Up Ring

We adore things made out of unexpected materials, like this ode to knitting made from sterling silver wire, the Knit Me Something Ring ($30) by wearthou. It also comes in necklace form, but we like the ring. This is an amazing price for such a quality-made piece. The artist has soldered the band, yarn, and knitting needles together. They even handmade the band themselves, so they'll make it in any size you like. The stated creation period is only four days (after payment), though. So it won't significantly hold up the arrival of your brand new bling. Don't know your ring size? There's a handy helper on the product page. Be sure to check out the rest of wearthou's shop because it's freaking fantastic!
Love,
Bling!
PS - We ran across this pretty awesome coffee cup. No, really. You have to check it out!

Monday

Delicate Lariat Necklace

Tom Binns creates some pretty snazzy, dramatic jewelry. But we prefer this delicate lariat chain with a  round crystal pave bead at each end. The Bejeweled Lariat Necklace ($628) by Tom Binns is available at Shopbop. (Yes, we hate when designers choose to not sell their work on their own website too.) The chain is 18k gold plated and the beads are sterling silver crystal pave. It's 32 inches, but hangs right to that place where the sides of your breast bone diverge. And by that, we mean it draws attention to your whoo-ha's, especially if you're not quite as endowed as you'd prefer. You're welcome. Free shipping and you better jump on this fast because there are only two left!
Love,
Bling!
PS - If we were different people (you might be...) we would like the Tough Chic Zipper Earrings.

Friday

Maple Seed Earrings

These Double Japanese Maple Seed Earrings ($225) by PatrickIrlaJewelry are made from sterling silver (finished with a white silver oxide) and hung on 14k gold earwires. The textured detailing is stunning. These went on our wishlist so quickly our little lamb didn't even have time to shake its tail twice. Notice how they hang in the same way you see them on the a maple tree. Definitely check out the rest of their shop for some other beautiful fine jewelry.
Love,
Bling!
PS - We think this would make a great alternative wedding ring.

Thursday

Wing Ring Bling!!

The ring above has quite the hefty price tag... more than $6,000!! But we're loving the curvy, feminine take on the angel-wing fad. The beautiful opening at the top is just another detail that makes this ring a stunner. This wins our Finger Bling award, by far. The Diamond Pave Wing Ring by Anita Ko is available in 18k white gold (shown above), yellow gold, and rose gold (our personal fave metal to compliment many skin tones). If the link sends you to the front page, just find the ring under the Good and Evil section. We found this piece in a recent update from The Zoe Report, by the way (giving credit where credit's due).
Love,
Bling!
PS - The city of curvy, feminine takes (Paris of course!) is commemorated in this fantastic art piece: Paris Mapcut on White ($1,100) by studiokmo. And the artist has similar pieces at much lower prices (postcards are $3.75 and the smallest prints are $12).

Wednesday

Who's There?

This Knock Knock Locket ($42) by Lanyapi has all sorts of etched detailing around the edges and a beautiful raised door knocker on the front. The knocker lifts to allow functional knocking. We love it. The chain is 14k gold filled with some pearl beads attached, but we think it would look nice on a silver snake or box chain. We at Bling of the Day have chain issues... that aside, this necklace was featured in an Etsy Gift Guide and as a bonus, you get free shipping worldwide! This necklace is a must-have.
Love,
Bling!

Pinwheel Earrings

These Tiny Pinwheel (Windmill) Earrings ($16) by mxmjewelry are sterling silver and just a quarter of an inch square, though you can get them bigger if you like. They are simple post earrings, but quite kitschy and definitely something you'll get comments on. And with that price, you have to scoop these up! If you're not into the earrings (or your ears aren't pierced, like us!), you can get it in necklace form hereMxmjewelry also urges us to ask for custom pieces, though I don't think you'll have to with other adorable bling like the Tiny Paper Plane Pendant ($26), 2gether Rings ($30), and Class of 2010 Diploma Necklace ($28). Enjoy!
Love,
Bling!

The Tooth Fairy Would be Proud

This is the most unique bling we've run across in a while. The two finger, sterling silver Human Teeth Knuckle Ring ($930) by Vanderglas features four real human teeth. Each one is unique because of the size of the teeth and the various finishes that can be used. The teeth are all donated from various friends, strangers, and tooth fairies and are sterilized for sanitation purposes. But you can send them your own teeth if you've got a few sentimental ones lying in a box somewhere. We did... last summer we made a necklace from  our baby teeth. Sadly we didn't get any pictures of it before it got destroyed in a recent move. We'll make another one someday!
Each one is made to order, but is quite time-consuming so it takes up to four weeks to receive the finished piece. However, if you're under a time crunch because you forgot the upcoming holiday or birthday, they'll work with you to accomodate the time limits as best they can. And don't forget, shipping is free worldwide! Our runners up from Vanderglas use human hair (another one we've toyed around with in our jewelry creations) and human teeth in various other pieces (necklaces, rings, cufflinks, bracelets, and earrings).

Friday

Extra World Cup Bling!

This 2010 FIFA World Cup I Love Football Pin (above) is available at eCrater for just $3.80 and free shipping! Other pins we like are the 2010 World Cup Ball Pin at Subside Sports for $8 (silver) or $10 (gold) and the 2010 World Cup 2D Trophy Pin also at Subside Sports for $10. The former is a more classy way to show your love for the game and the latter is shaped like the World Cup trophy. And we love the Sterling Silver Soccer Ball Bracelet ($18) at Bonanzle, even though the picture is awful we can tell it's a good piece.

Above-left, the Dazzlers 14k Gold Soccer Player Charm would look great strung on a nice chain. Get it for $212 at Linens N Things (of all places). The 14k White Gold Cremation Jewelry Soccer Ball Necklace (above-right) is found on Urn Shopper for $599. You can also find quite a few soccer player charms in different positions. On the left, below, is the Soccer Boot and Ball Necklace at Bonanzle for $9. The Sterling Silver I Love Soccer Ring, below on the right, is available for $19 also at Bonanzle.

If you love that weird little yellow and green character they've come up with as the mascot for the 2010 World Cup, you'll love the watch and earrings below. The watch is found at Art2Product for just $8. The earrings are found there as well, for only $5! Other great World Cup bling is available on the site too, so browse around.

    USA Wire Earrings

And if you're not a fan of that mascot with the attitude, how about these colorful World Cup Button Earrings ($5, above left)? Or you can show your USA pride (if you're American) with these USA Wire Earrings ($5, above right) from World Soccer Shop.

The Ravi Ratan Sterling Silver Soccer Ball Cufflinks ($150, above left) are classy. The Cleats Cufflinks ($29, above right) are a little more snazzy. And the Soccer Field Working Game Cufflinks ($27, below) are just fun! All available at Amazon.

World Cup Bling of the Day!

Enrique Vasquez is a Columbian jeweler who was given the privilege of making the Official 2010 World Cup Rings. Each of the seven platinum rings Vasquez is making will feature 220 Columbian emeralds and will sell for $250,000. He will also make 33 white gold rings, selling for $70,000 each, that have 36 emeralds and several South African diamonds on the bands. Lastly, Vasquez is crafting almost 2,000 gold and silver rings that will feature four emeralds and sell for $2,500. A single gold ring will be given to UNICEF in honor of their work with youth, while another will be presented to the tournament's MVP. When we at Bling of the Day figure out where you can go to scoop these up, we'll let you know straight away!
Love,
Bling!
PS - Check back tomorrow to finish off the week with some more affordable World Cup bling!

Wednesday

Bling for Dad - Father's Day Edition

Possibly the best cufflinks ever for the typical nerdy dad... or for the workaholic businessman. These 4GB USB Flash Drive Cufflinks ($195) by Ravi Ratan are available at Cufflinks.com. They work, and you can have them engraved at checkout for something extra-special. They also come in gunmetal or gold. And don't forget you get free shipping!
Prefer something easier on the wallet? This Steampunk Ring ($55) by CosmicFirefly (on Etsy) is adjustable (but the band isn't the cheap kids craft kind) with a wide band and beautiful watch detailing. Click around CosmicFirefly's store a bit if you like the concept but not this particular piece. They have more like it for sale.

The Blind Faith braille cuff ($150) by Erica Anenberg is quite the treat. It features beautiful raised dots that spell out "blind faith" in braille on the front of the cuff. The underside reads "blind faith" in a lovely print. The metal is sterling silver plated brass so it will tarnish, which might give it an extra dose of testosterone. We think it's already a bit masculine and could imagine it on plenty of men's wrists.
We don't like necklaces on a man. But if you're Dad insists on thinking he's young and hip by wearing a leather cord or puka shells around his neck, please do him a favor and at least get him a masculine necklace. The Deer Antler Tip Necklace ($68) by M-K Ranch (on Etsy) is definitely masculine. The tip of the antler is protected by a tiny piece of hand forged brass, made to fit the natural point of this particular antler. The leather cord it's strung on is hand-braided, so they'll let you choose the length yourself. And you can choose between black, dark brown, brown, or light brown leather.

Or choose the Rattlesnake Rattle Necklace ($18) by JanuaryJaniesJewelry (on Etsy). The pendant is a real rattle from a Diamondback Rattlesnake. It's been preserved with salt and finished with a protective glaze, then hung from a silver plated bail. It comes on a 30 inch ball chain, which you can cut to a shorter length if you like. Free shipping in the US too!

Bling!

Dinosaur Ring

T-Rex is the King of the Forest. You can honor him on your finger with this ring made from solid walnut and varnished with a beautiful glossy finish. The Mini T-Rex Silhouette Ring ($12) by LostAtSeaShop (on Etsy) has great detail and even the band is made from wood. It's completely gender-neutral so if you've got a guy on your gift list you should think about this one. It comes in half sizes 4.5-7.5, with custom sizes available on request. Head over to lostatseashop to claim your own T-Rex ring.

Bling!

Monday

Get a Green Thumb

The Tiny Moss and Mushroom Terrarium Ring ($118) by WoodlandBelle (on Etsy). We adore this itty bitty greenhouse mounted on a ring. The plants are fern, moss, lichen, and red-spotted toadstool mushrooms. The rings have a turnover time of about two-weeks, but only because they make each one by hand when ordered. And the plants require no maintenance because they are preserved (but real) and not live. The fern is plastic, though. The band and setting are sterling silver.  The glass is Pyrex so it's less likely to break, but you should probably still be careful. So the whole thing is definitely made to last. Sizes 5-9 are available in whole sizes only, but make sure you are accurate with sizing. Since the ring is so large on top, it will have a tendency to flip if not fitted properly. If you live in the US, shipping is super-cheap. But everyone else should be prepared to add $15 to the total. If you love this ring as much as we do, head on over to WoodlandBelle now!

Bling!

Charm and Chain Necklaces (And a Coupon Code Too!)

Today, we're going to show you all the necklaces we found at Charm & Chain yesterday as we were creating our first post about them. We love this Gabriella Necklace ($2900) by Marlaina Stone. It's way out of... anyone's price range, but we can't get enough of it. We're hoping we can make a knockoff for ourselves, but we're realistic. This one's hard to create. Below (left) is the Cluster Pendant necklace ($95) by Emma Carroll Etc. These delightfully-clustered circles look great in blue (shown below) and agave, but we're not so fond of the pink version. The necklace has quite the vintage appeal. We love vintage. Below (right), the Alegria Necklace ($260) by Citrine By The Stones makes a statement without being bulky or distracting passersby. And the colors are very of-the-moment for you trendy types.

We really want the sold out Avril Necklace by Dori Csengeri (below left), but we'll settle for the Little Girl Blue Necklace ($275) by Camillajames (below right). It makes denim a little more special, as does the Chain & Denim Rhinestone Cuff ($190) by Rachel Leigh (closing out the post).

Charm & Chain lets you search by category, designer, and price point; look only at sale items; or even get your own personal stylist by filling out a form about the types of bling you're looking for. Plus you can use this discount code Extra20 at checkout to get 20% off your order.

Epic Post with Coupon Code: Spotlight Charm & Chain

This epic post includes an exciting 20% off code if you scroll to the end. The focus of today is Charm & Chain, which was recently brought to our attention in this article by BussBuss. We picked through the litter (as it were) and chose some of our favorites to present to you. It's well-curated but we've definitely got issues with brevity (and with not showing you everything we think you deserve to see!). So bear with us or scroll through the pictures and only read about the jewels you like.
Above is the Gold Klimt Cuff ($195) by Alexis Bittar. If you don't know who Klimt is, Google it because you'll love seeing the artist's vision in this bracelet. Below (left) is the Rhinestone Arrow Pin with Chains ($45) by Tuleste Market. We love the pointy gold being offset with droopy, gliding chains and straight, shimmering rhinestones.

Above (right) is the Diamond-Shaped Three Strand Brass Headpiece ($205) by House of Harlow. That's Nicole Richie's line, by the way. This headpiece is perfect because you don't have something dangling on your forehead all day driving you crazy (it itches, bumps you constantly, and you keep seeing the ghost of it when you look up), but you still get to partake of the goddess-like beauty it gives.

Here are three pairs of earrings we can't do without. Above are the Turquoise Cabochon Drop Earrings ($75) by Kenneth Jay Lane. Who can resist the classy shape and lengthy dangle... or the color? Below (left) are the Playground Earrings ($180) by Dori Csengeri, perfect for when you wish you could break out the box of Crayolas, but then you realize how old you are. And below (right) are the Sara Chandelier earrings ($115) by Fulham. We like the playful shapes and textures as well as the summery and feminine color palette.

We ran across two oddities we just had to show you. The Music Note Earrings ($186) below-left by Amanda Rudey make your sheet music wearable. We're wondering, since each one is handmade to order, if you could beg a little to get ones that "play" a certain tune... Below (right) you'll see the Makaha Bracelet ($265) by DANNIJO, which looks like a belt for your wrist. Except that it's made from genuine stingray. Weird? Absolutely. Cool? We can't decide.

And do the two pieces below remind you of anything? The Dina Pyrite Earrings ($245) by Gemma Redux are on the left and maybe here. The Amethyst Cluster Ring ($90) by Dara Ettinger is on the right and maybe here or here.

Want the code now? After all your hard work, you deserve it. To get 20% off, just enter Extra20 at checkout.
Love,
Bling!
PS - Notice anything? Yep, this post is devoid of necklaces. But don't worry, we're doing an entire post tomorrow on Charm & Chain's necklaces. So come back then to get a delightful selection of the some of the best necklaces they offer and the low-down on the site layout and the best features there.

"Rock"ing Bling! Get it?

That was a dumb joke... Each of these Geode Necklaces by Allison Schiller is one of a kind, totally unique, and completely stunning. For $305, you can have your choice of stone color (brown or black/grey) set in sterling silver on a 17 inch sterling silver chain. For an extra $110, you can get 14k gold. The settings are handmade and thus higher quality, holding the stone in more firmly and accurately. They are worth the price, we promise. Buy one at her website and get matching earrings, bracelets, and rings. And don't forget to check out the Bling Earrings, because we know you love anything "bling"!
Love,

Adding a Dose of 'Edgy'

Elizabeth-Street-Petite-Chain-Ring

We are partial to quite the chic, feminine vibe... maybe with some eclectic or hippie influences. But certainly not edgy. But sometimes we'd like to have an edge for a certain event or to help us get through a lack of confidence. This ring is exactly what we need. It doesn't mess with our otherwise impeccably curated style, but it's definitely something special and definitely gives us a dose of 'edgy'. The Petite Chain Ring by Elizabeth Street is available at Nimli, for a pretty penny ($200). They do boast that it's handmade, made with recycled materials, and made in the US. The band is 14k rose gold and the chain is 14k yellow gold (they work perfectly together, promise). And you can get it in sizes 6 through 8.5 so you should be able to find one that fits on a finger. You can also get it gift wrapped and include a gift message, which we think is always a nice touch. Be sure to pick one of these great pieces up and wear it with.... anything.
Love,
Bling!
PS - Nimli's got quite a few great pieces; thumb through their jewelry section for some awesome finds. And don't forget, everything fits under the Nimli motto "natural, organic & green lifestyle". A couple of our other Nimli favorites? Bario-Neal's Bend Ring, Nashelle Designs' Peace Tag Necklace, and Hovey Lee's Silver Chain Lock Bangle.

Monday

The Mymble's Daughter (aka adorapop)

The Original Decision Maker necklace ($53) by The Mymble's Daughter would leave us never bored. Just think up a question, spin the pendant, and in a couple seconds you have the answer! It's like playing MASH all over again. It's made with sterling silver (chain included) and glass. It hangs at 24 inches and features a signature Mymble's Daughter tag at the clasp (a black crow). They remind you at the bottom of the listing that they are inspired by "castles in the air, pirates, mermaids, secret islands, fairytales, little goth girls, black roses, midnight skies, and other mysteries..." We love them.

Speaking of fairy tales and pirates... our favorite fairytale is featured in the Little Red Riding Hood ($23) necklace, we love the Queen Anne's Revenge ($62) pirate ship necklace (which opens!), and we know how popular this Alice Through the Looking Glass ($32) necklace must be with all the hype surrounding Tim Burton's adaptation of the classic story. The listing endeared us immediately with its quote straight from the book. It's double-sided, by the way! One side shows Alice about to pass through the glass while the other shows her coming into the room on the other side. You can tell the differences in the room if you look closely. The pictures are encased in a thick plastic, framed with plated silver, and hung on a 32 inch silver plated chain. It's long enough that you can wrap the chain around your neck a second time so it hangs shorter.

Prefer a little animalia? The Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit Jackalope pendant ($8, above) is pretty awesome and quite easy on the wallet. Or the Jackalope Pendant ($8, below) almost gives us an excitement heart attack. (We quite like the bizarre creatures...)

This Le Fin lapel pin ($15) is inspired by French film noir. Ooh la la!
Check out The Mymble's Daughter (operating under the Etsy username "adorapop") as soon as you can for some wonderfully kitschy finds. Don't forget, you get 5 cent shipping for each additional piece you purchase in an order after the first. And check out their BIG SALE going on now and their Last Chance to Buy section for some awesome deals.
Love,
Bling!
PS - We really want these Drink Me tags, inspired by Alice and Wonderland, to use on our jewelry. But we know they wouldn't make any sense...
